John Payne
Anyone who has worked to grow a medical clinic knows that obstacles can come from every direction: regulatory red tape, staff shortages, and non-stop demands for both high-quality care and sustainable growth. I’ve faced these same challenges as the co-founder and director of Symphony Health MD.
Today, I keep our clinic running smoothly by handling legal, financial, and operational requirements, while also ensuring that the right systems and people are in place to best serve our patients.
After starting Symphony Health MD in 2022, I grew our operation from a solo practice to a team of 15 physicians within three years. I especially enjoy developing new service lines and finding smart ways to expand what the clinic offers; it’s great to see the practice I started become something larger over time.
Alongside that, I love building practical solutions to real operational problems, whether that’s streamlining clinic workflows or solving a hands-on technical challenge.
I hold a BA in Theology from the University of Leeds.
My Areas of Expertise:
- Healthcare business strategy and growth
- Healthcare regulations and compliance
- Healthcare practice leadership and clinic operations.
More About Me:
I’m a dad to three kids and get a lot of joy from following their sports teams and occasionally coaching too! I’m also involved in our church in Vancouver, where I lead in various capacities. A hands-on person at heart, I enjoy practical DIY projects and I’m becoming an increasingly keen gardener!
What’s In My Tech Stack:
- Telus CHR: I like TELUS CHR because it’s cloud-based and built specifically for BC, with MSP billing integrated directly into the system and a strong patient-facing interface; this suits our multi-physician clinic and lets both our team and patients access what they need securely from anywhere.
